The newest app from China-based media player maker Rovio is called Thoptv and it's a completely free Android and iOS app that lets you stream videos from its Windows & Mac app to your TV. Thoptv was designed by leading technology company Kaiyodo and uses one of the world's most sophisticated models to deliver smooth, clear video playback.
Rovio's København creators were instrumental in developing the codec, Kaiyodo, which is used in so many and Android devices. Kaiyodo developed the model with Opera Software (which is owned by IAP Media), so you can be sure that this isn't some type of knockoff or copy of an Apple app. It's a real rip-off, though, because the app on Windows and Mac doesn't even have a subtitles button!
Not only does Thoptv come with both audio and subtitles, but the app is loaded with other Windows & Mac media playing features including support for Hulu, Tubi TV, MLB.tv, Tidal, Vevo, and hundreds more. If you own a Roku or Xbox, you can watch TV through your cable or satellite box with Thoptv as well.
So, what is the secret sauce in the free Thoptv? On Windows, it's actually a Windows-only mode called MediaToolkit. For Mac users, it's called WMV Decoder. Both codecs are included in the Windows and Mac versions of the app and both are extremely powerful.
They work in conjunction with MediaToolkit to read videos from other sources, including videos downloaded from a website (as well as other compatible websites), web videos, and videos loaded in an Internet Explorer window. If you're using an Internet Explorer browser, the Windows & Mac versions of the app will automatically open the videos in the appropriate format, no matter what format they were downloaded in. You'll be able to watch everything from boxing videos to YouTube.
The question remains, though, as to whether or not the apps can truly play media from other platforms without any problems at all on Windows and Mac. Well, that depends on what codecs are in use. If you download a Mac version of the app, it should be able to play media from your Mac, since the WMV Decoder is used. More Details thoptv apk download
On Windows, however, it's the Dolby Digital Plus DVPix which is responsible for decoding media. If you download the Windows and Mac versions of the app, it should be able to decode any file you throw at it. If you want the transcoding to work on Windows and Mac, you'll have to use the WMV Decoder from Kaiyodo to decode the file.
For many people, the free Thoptv is a great way to catch up on streaming TV shows and movies while still being able to relax on the couch. If you have a Roku or an Xbox, you can also catch up on movies and TV shows on your computer while watching television on the big screen.
